Supervised Contact
This service is provided when it has been determined or is questioned that a child has suffered or is at risk of suffering significant harm during contact.
A qualified worker supervises the contact sessions between the parent and child/ren at all times. A written factual report of the session is provided to the referring professional.
Supported Contact
This is suitable for families where no significant risk to the child has been identified. Workers are available for assistance but there is no close observation or monitoring. No written report is provided.
Community Based Parenting Capacity Assessment
As part of our wider services, we offer community based parenting capacity assessments.
Our PCA is completed using the Parent Assess model which can be used with vulnerable parents and parents with Learning Disabilities. We use a team approach with a social worker and family support worker allocated to the family. At least three family time sessions at our centre is needed to complete the assessment. This will also be sessions in the family home.
SGO and Kinship Assessments
The assessment can be undertaken generally within 8 weeks of letter of instruction however the Local Authority will need to be responsible for medical, financial and other statutory checks. There will be at least one session at the centre for observation.
Section 7 Reports
We have extensive experience of private law proceedings and can prepare a report for a fixed fee.
The Combined Assessment Programme (CAP)
This is a holistic assessment of vulnerable parents and their children. We have developed a way to assess parents with learning disabilities combining a community based assessment with six weeks of residential assessment within our residential family centre in SG19 4EX.
Assessments will be completed over 12 weeks. This model has many advantages over a fully residential programme and is considerably cheaper. Following the residential, families will attend the contact centre weekly for 4 sessions. It also has advantages over a community based assessment as the residential aspect offers the opportunity to assess all aspects of parenting.
